I was there for the Veterans day lunch. It was very good. My server was Ashley who helped to make it a very nice first time. She returned several times to be sure I didn't need anything else.
I’m sure they get it right most of the time, but we went to celebrate a big event with prime rib. They were out of prime rib— at 7:30 p.m. So we changed our orders to steak tips and a ribeye. Both meat entrees were so salty you couldn’t eat them. Appetites and celebration were ruined. Manager offered an inadequate discount. But our wonderful server went to bat for us and got the entrees deleted from the bill. Still had to pay for our two diet cokes. Really?
Great steaks and a good variety of other menu items. The steaks are fresh cut and expertly prepared. Nice country (and western ) vibe. Did I mention that the steaks are as good as you can get anywhere? Go order a steak. Seriously, just do it.
I've been to a lot of steakhouses, and not only is this right there in terms of quality meat, but it's top of the list as far as price. Getting two sirloin steak meals, plus drinks, plus delicious unlimited bread, in the $50 range is amazing. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The wait times are the only real downside (for someone with kids especially) but it's to be expected from such a popular place. Use call ahead seating every time.
Texas Roadhouse routinely wins best steak in Eau Claire. It isn't the best steak, but you can get an 8oz fillet for about 40% less than a fine steakhouse and not be disappointed with the meal. It is casual, kid friendly, and the free peanuts in the shell and bottomless rolls make the thrifty City of Eau Claire very happy. They are very consistent, and the food is tasty. This place is constantly busy. If it is the holiday season, do the call ahead seating or be prepared to wait a long time. We go there because my son loves the rolls and eats them by the basket. It is less popular with my wife and daughter because it is noisy, busy, and not the cleanest restaurant in town (honestly, it's not too bad but the peanut shells are everywhere). Someone please tell management that the line dancing by the staff was a cute gimmick in the 90s, but no one who eats there has ever seen Coyote Ugly, and would rather the staff skipped the dancing and got on with the business of cranking patrons through the roadhouse, bringing them more hot, wildly addictive dinner rolls and inexpensive but tasty food.
